Baxter is the main character in my next short game, Follow the Butterflies<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each night, Koot goes into the same bar, orders the same beer, and stares at the same bottle of liquor behind the bar counter\u2014unwinding from the day\u2019s events. That is, until something catches his periphery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A butterfly?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is he that drunk already?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He waves his hand near it, and it disappears\u2014almost like it broke apart, yet melted at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then he sees more appearing throughout the bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does he say anything?
Can anyone else see them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless, he feels like he has to catch one to prove\u2014at least to himself\u2014whether he\u2019s drinking too much\u2026 or really starting to see things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Follow the Butterflies<\/em> will be the newest game in the Glean<\/strong> series: short, bite-sized games that embody multiple game design patterns, with education in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each Glean<\/em> game explores a small set of design ideas in isolation, letting players experience how different mechanics shape play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Games like\u00a0Toy Path<\/a>\u00a0will continue to receive added content and will eventually be grouped into volumes of\u00a0Glean<\/em>. Think of it a bit like Nintendo\u2019s\u00a0Game & Watch<\/em>\u00a0series\u2014each volume containing several short games, with future volumes released as new design patterns are explored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
